Bringing Acceptance
& Trust to Humanity
Who We Are
BATH Foundation
BATH Foundation, a non-profit company, is based at the ground floor of Strollers, a women’s homeless shelter in Durban City. The shelter is managed by the eThekwini Safer Cities division, whereby we work closely with their vision to have cities and human settlements that are inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable. Whilst the emotional trauma and counselling are handled by this unit, we focus on “Decent Work and Economic Growth”.
The aim is to be close to the women as an encouragement to regain confidence and re-enter society as thriving, resilient, and independent women – rebuilding a hope and a future towards a life in her own home.
Founded by Bronwen Turner, an entrepreneur who met these ladies living in the shelter via her church prayer group. She stayed to learn more about how they ended up in this situation and what their dreams were. That’s when BATH Foundation was born.
We aim to promote sustained, inclusive, and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment, and decent work for all. This includes ensuring economic emancipation, particularly for young people and women, eradicating forced labour and modern slavery, and promoting safe and secure working conditions.
As part of our commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), we integrate environmental consciousness into our training initiatives. This includes using waste textiles in our weaving, crochet, and sewing programs – teaching not only craft skills, but also sustainability and resourcefulness.
BATH Foundation is an awareness community: a platform of knowledge and understanding of a woman and youth’s rights as individuals; standing against gender-based violence and advocating for protection against human trafficking.
Our Key
Objectives
Economic Empowerment
We promote inclusive, sustainable economic growth by supporting young people and women toward financial independence. This includes access to decent work, equal opportunities, and safe, secure working conditions.
Human Rights & Awareness
BATH Foundation is a platform of awareness – educating women and youth about their rights, protection against gender-based violence, and the dangers of human trafficking. Knowledge is the first step to freedom.
Skills & Entrepreneurship
We help women upskill for employment or entrepreneurship. From basic job readiness to micro enterprise training, we offer support in crafts, business setup, and long-term sustainability.
Community Collaboration
Through partnerships with industries and networks, we open doors to real opportunities. Our focus is on training, development, and building supportive pathways toward independence and dignity.
How We Add
Value
We take a holistic approach – offering emotional support, skills training, and personal development within a safe and nurturing environment. By walking closely with each woman, we not only help her rebuild but also empower her to thrive independently, confidently, and purposefully. Our value lies in consistency, care, and the commitment to see transformation through.
Mission
We are here to walk a journey with each woman – helping her develop workplace readiness, build an individual development plan, and make more informed life choices. Our aim is to equip her with tools for independence, safety awareness, and a vision for a future in a home of her own.
Grow and strengthen
We create a space for women emerging from emotionally dark places to rediscover their dreams and rebuild their self-worth. With ongoing encouragement and support, we remind her that it is never too late to start over -stronger, wiser, and more empowered than before.
Equip
We provide practical training and development to help each woman grow in her talents and potential. Through skills-building and mentoring, we aim to equip her for real-world resilience and long-term personal and professional growth.
Journey alongside
True change takes time. Like Rome, healing is not built in a day. After providing foundational support, we continue to walk alongside her with regular check-ins, workshops, and encouragement. We help her stay focused during setbacks, remind her of her worth, and guide her toward long-term success.

What We Do
Our Projects
Each project we run is designed to support long-term transformation – fostering creativity, self-discipline, practical skills, and confidence. Through hands-on learning, one-on-one guidance, and real-world application, women are empowered to explore their talents, develop sustainable income models, and pursue education at their own pace. We focus on progress over perfection, building a foundation of independence that grows stronger with each step.
Bright ideas
The ladies are free to explore creative ideas towards her individual development plans where we will guide each lady onto better healthier career choices or business models.
We are happy to help walk alongside to steer and give networking directional guidance.
The aim is not to simply give handouts but to show and guide as a growing and independent model.
Financial Literacy
Some may say, why would one need financial literacy with no / low income. Good question!
Because every little earned, saved and treasured, is a step closer to independence.
When a person is able to understand the dynamics of financial independence, then we begin to see a thriving individual. No matter the income band.
Basic financial literacy is covered as a base point.
